Saint Rose of Lima

Cantors are solo voices who responsible for leading and sustaining the community in sung prayer. Serving as a cantor is never about delivering a musical performance, but to enhance the Word of God through song, and to encourage full, conscious, and active participation from the community. This requires spiritual and musical maturity.

To serve as a cantor at Saint Rose of Lima, one must be at least 14 years old. No prior musical training is required. However, participation in one or more of the other ensembles within our music ministry is preferred. Training workshops are offered several times each year in an effort to prepare potential cantors for the spiritual and musical discernment that is necessary to effectively fulfill this ministry.
