Music is a vital part of our worship. Our singing is our prayer and it is a powerful way to unite a group, thus making us into "a visible expression of what our faith proclaims: that we are one body, united in Christ, offering a single prayer of praise and thanksgiving to God." (USCCB)
As such, it is an essential part of our praise and worship that the entire assembly raise their voice, together, in song - especially during the Hymn at Communion - a time when we unite, as One body in Christ, to recieve the Body of Christ .
Music adds richness to our worship and operates on a level within us that words alone cannot. Music is a partner of prayer and our many parish musicians, cantors, organists, band members and choir members bring this understanding to every rehearsal and to every Mass.
If you are interested in learning more about the music ministry at St. Rose of Lima - perhaps volunteering as a cantor, or joining the choir or the band, please contact Dave Moulton, Director of Music, at [email protected].
The music ministry at Saint Rose of Lima Parish encompasses an adult choir singing in the fall and spring of the year for Christmas and Triduum, the Worship Band of high school/college students and adults singing weekly throughout the school year at the 10am Mass, and a cantor ministry that leads the Assembly in musical prayer throughout the year.
